Curved Floating Staircase | Glass Balustrades
Project: Roman Road
When Mr Holyhead visited our factory and showroom looking for a unique staircase, we could not have been more excited. With a relatively open brief, it allowed our design team to put together a soultion like no other. This freedom enabled us to show our flare and talent within the staircase industry and the finish was exceptional.
With a huge space available, we wanted to create a true focal point to the property with features that are truly unique to the property. Designer Nathaniel created a splayed opening to the staircase creating a generous first step that measured over 1350mm. A huge entrance to the staircase to allow the clients to approach from a variety of directions, making the journey throughout the property fluid and comfortable.
The splay design then took a round of development, we decided to change this to a curved opening for a more elegant finish to the rails and glass. This process takes serious precision during through design, manufacture and installation. A very intricate detail that is very complex and not offered by most companies, but we love a challenge. The solid 110 European White Oak treads were stained to a unique grey wash to compliment the tiles both up and downstairs.
For the final element of beauty, we contrasted the treads with an anthracite steel consruction and timber handrail. This dark grey matched the windows throughout the property and contrasted so well against the grey washed treads. Most projects choose to match timbers and other materials, but a strong contrast can give a staircase that extra WOW factor without even realising it.
Mr Holyhead, continued the design pattern throughout his home, even using these colours to perfect his interior styling through all three stories of the property. A truly fantastic project to be a part of in Sutton Coldfield.
