Twisted Oak Staircase Renovation

Project: The Brambles

Mr and Mrs Kennedy were renovating their charming home in the heart of the Nottingham countryside and had wanted a new staircase for years! Their old staircase had no comlpete balustrades and had several coats of paint building up from the years of use. They knew paint was not the solution, so they contacted us to discuss options for a staircase renovation to bring the staircase back to life. With such a flawless finish you would never know this was not a complete staircase replacement.

Our design team approached the Kennedy family with a variety of ideas for their T shape staircase transformation. We explored steel balsutrades, bespoke glazing options, but we opted for a designer twisted spindle balustrade to keep the staircase consistant with their interior styling throughout the home. Timber spindles are timeless and come in a variety of style and finishes to suit all tastes. A bold oak spindle has never gone out of fashion, and it never will.

We chose to renovate the entire staircase with European White Oak to finish like a brand new solid oak staircase. All newel posts are removed completely and replaced with solid oak posts (variety of styles available), finished with a bespoke machined flat cap that is not available on the high street, unlike standard caps. A huge range of handrails are available to choose from to compliment your toughened glass balustrade, our sample kit will allow you to make the right decision.

Finally, we clad the strings (sides of the staircase) with an oak veneer throughout, so once a carpet is relaid the staircase is complete. Or we could have gone the extra mile and finished all treads and risers with anti-slip oak!
