Pale Oak and Bracketed Glass | Staircase Renovation

Project: Wheathill Close

Mr and Mrs Oates of Chesterfield had a lovely family home. They had recently decorated, with finishing to the highest standard, but the staircase had not changed since it was originally installed. This staircase was old and looked very dated next to their new modern interior styling. The staircase is the focal point when you enter the home, so it was important to bring the staircase back to life.  The First Step Designs team recognised this and got to work right away.

We decided to embrace a bracketed glass balustrade. This was to compliment other brushed steel finishes around the entrance hallway and first floor landing. These stainless steel brackets are perfect to compliment the customers light switches and door handles, for a consistent interior style. A modern way to create intricate details, to make a staircase stand out from the rest.

Mrs Oates has a career as an artist and was very determined to stay away from a natural oak finish, she felt it was too traditional and wanted something to compliment her interior on a more contemporary level. We created a custom pale stain and applied it European White Oak, it finished the project perfectly. The staircase renovation included, full replacement newel posts, complete string and apron cladding, modern square rails and finished with toughened glass balustrades.
