Glass, LED lights and Walnut Staircase Renovation

Project: Milton Way

Mr Fryer had recently finished the complete renovation of his home in Sleaford, Lincs. Once complete he realised there was one crucial thing missing, a statement staircase. His old, dated staircase did not suit his newly refurbished home and needed to be brought back to life. He contacted First Step Designs with a few ideas and let our design team take the reigns from there. After the initial online quotation, a member of our design team visited Mr Fryer with samples and drawings of the chosen design to ensure he was 100% happy with the finish that he had chosen.

We have renovated hundreds of these staircases over the years and our process is absolute. We remove all components other than the structural strings (sides of the staircase), that cannot be removed. This includes replacement newel posts, handrails, baserails, nosings and new glass balustrades. We even went the extra mile and installed a new solid walnut bullnose step as tread #1 with an anti-slip finish for safety.

The areas that cannot be removed are clad with a 6mm Walnut veneer that is cut to perfection and scribed to the exact shape of the staircase. We use this same cladding on all the sides of the staircase (strings) and the apron too. The apron is the vertical section between the downstairs ceiling and the upstairs landing balustrade. This frames the well opening for that final touch of elegance to complete the staircase renovation.

To finalise the installation we installed small LED spotlights in the wall side string (The side of the staircase against the wall, not too dissimilar to a skirting board of the staircase). We build out this area and create a channel for the wires to loop throughout the staircase creating one circuit ready to be connected by your own electrician upon our completion. All you need to do is let us know where you want the wires to end. Call today to find out more about our renovation services.
